Physiotherapy is treatment of injury or disease by physical means, for instance by exercise, manipulation, massage and machines that optimise healing. Sometimes acupuncture is used.

On your first visit your Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough examination, first by asking questions about your problem and then by testing structures of the body, to discover the nature of the complaint. A plan of treatment is then agreed with yourself so that treatment can begin. This can take up to one hour.

Further visits are usually shorter - about half an hour.

You will often need to bring along shorts to wear for treatment and also wear suitable underclothes.
